Dear Mr. Rudd,
Happy New Year to you.
Recently, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ngan, a Vietnamese Canadian, appeared in front of hundreds of Vietnamese American spectators in a music show that he was a professional MC. In about 5 minutes, Mr. Nguyen lied about President Trump and his immigration policy. He said Mr. Trump is a tyrants and the U.S. is no longer a safe place to live or travel. Because of his immigration policy, fifty thousand American people had to escape and to seek refuge in Canada. He also said that the Canadian government had to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to take care of those people. Please view: https://youtu.be/ZYJsor5b3VE
Besides, to prove the cruelty of the U.S. immigration policy, Mr. Nguyen told the audience a special case of a woman who had been arrested by ICE and was about to be deported. This woman, Ly Nguyen, is a Vietnamese singer with stage name Bao Ly. She came to the U.S. thanked to a fake marriage. She has lived illegally in America for 17 years with a common law husband Doan Huy Cuong who is also a singer. They have 4 children, co-own a nail salon but have exploited our social welfares for decades. Now close to the day of deportation, Huy Cuong opened a Face book account to complain about the immigration policy and beg for money to hire a lawyer.
This March 2020, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ngan will arrive to Austin to be the MC in a music show at Long Center. Along with him, there is a Vietnamese singer from the Socialist Vietnam. Her name is Do Mai Khoi. Last year, when President Trump visited Vietnam, this woman appeared on Hanoi streets raising a sign read “I pissed on Trump”. Both will perform on the stage.
We respect their right of speak or expression. But in these cases, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ngan and Ms. Do Mai Khoi are foreigners who come back and forth to the U.S. multiple times to make money which we don’t know whether they have work visa or not. They abused their right when they lied about the American policy. It’s the act of defaming that must be prosecuted.
As a public figure, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ngan’s false statement would cause confusion in the upcoming 2020 presidential election and would also affect the stance and conception of our Vietnamese American in regard to the American politics.
On behalf of the Vietnamese American Community of the U.S.A., we are requesting your office to investigate and have proper measures to ban those people from entering the U.S.
Thank you very much
